Places to stay

London is a large city, and we can't provide a comprehensive list of places to stay, but we can suggest some that BLUF members have used in the past. It's also worth taking a look at web sites like Late Rooms, which may have deals at short notice.

Ibis London Docklands
Convenient from the south of the UK, via the M25 and Blackwall Tunnel, this hotel is close to Blackwall DLR station, so you can reach The Backstreet by taking a train to Bank and then changing for the Central Line to Mile End. It’s a short taxi distance from the club too. Book via the Ibis website.

Ibis London City
Situated next to Aldgate East tube station, you can reach The Backstreet by tube very quickly, and return by night bus if you prefer not to take a taxi. Again, book via the Ibis website. There are often three night deals starting on a Friday.

Travelodge London Docklands
Next to East India DLR station, you can take the train to Bank and change to reach The Backstreet. There is parking at the hotel, though it is limited. BLUF members advise not asking reception for a taxi, as the prices aren’t terribly good. Book via the Travelodge web site.

For help in planning your trip and getting around London, we recomend the TFL Journey Planner web site – just click on the banner below. If you’re coming from outside London, you should pick up an Oyster Card for pay-as-you-go travel, since it more than halves the cost of tube and bus journeys. You don’t have to live in London to have one, and you can pick them up for £3.00 at any tube station ticket office, then top it up with cash. You’ll save up to £2.40 on a tube fare and £1.00 on a bus trip by using Oyster instead of cash.
