RoughSex.org is a domain owned by Nigel Whitfield. It is intended to provide a space for people in the UK to host pages concerning their activities and interests in some of the rougher and SM aspects of sexuality. It is a free service, and provided on a best-effort basis.
As well as web space, the service provides email addresses and a web mail system.
You ask nicely! There are no particular criteria, though most of the sites hosted here, initially at least, are friends or personal recommendations. On the whole, you're more likely to get space if you're in the UK than elsewhere. Just contact the webmaster and ask; please be patient, though - since it's a voluntary arrangement, it might take a while to get a reply.
You should say what you would like your site name to be - the part of the address following the roughsex.org. This will also be your email address. It would also be helpful if you can say which ISP you will be uploading pages from, to allow security to be configured.
However, see the restrictions below.
You may not use the server to host pictures of material involving minors, or non-consensual activity. You may not use it to promote hate-speech of any sort, including directed towards particular races, religious creeds, ethnic groups, or sexual orientations.
If your site contains explicit pictures, you should start it with a warning page of some sort. You must ensure that you do not post material that contravenes the regulations regarding extreme pornography.
You should not use your site to carry advertising, or income-generating services such as Adult Check or other verification schemes. The site is intended to be free for people to look at. You may put passwords on your site to restrict access to certain areas, but since we're not making money out of providing the space, you shouldn't be making money out of our generosity.
Above all, you should be sensible when uploading your site, and remember that this is a shared community resource. Try not to do anything that would jeopardise that. We don't like censorship, but that doesn't mean we don't have a contract with the people who provide our connection to the rest of the world!
We'd like to say 'unlimited' but there's only so much space on the server. Initially, your site will be configured with 50Mb of space, but that can be increased very easily; if you know you will need more, please say so when you ask for an account.
You can change your password by connecting to the address http://www.roughsex.org/personal. You may receive warnings about invalid security certificates, which you can ignore. On the main page, which you can return to by clicking on the Modify User link at the left, you can change your password.
Usage Data shows you how much of your disk space you are using, while Backup allows you to download a copy of all your site information to your own computer.
