These pages are designed to help you find out more about the service available here, and how to use it. If you still have problems, contact the webmaster and ask for help.
Your email address will be the same as the name you picked for your pages on the site. For example, if your site is http://roughsex.org/nigel then your email address would be nigel@roughsex.org. If you wish, all your email can be automatically forwarded to another address.
You can access your email in a number of different ways. You can configure your existing email program to collect messages from the server using either POP3 or IMAP, or you can use the web mail system.
If you wish to retrieve messages from the server, for example using Eudora or Outlook Express, the server name for incoming messages is safe.roughsex.org. We would prefer it if you send outgoing messages via your own ISP, but you may send them via www.roughsex.org if you collect email using POP3 and send messages within 10 minutes of collecting them. In other circumstances, the server will not forward outgoing messages from your computer.
The login name for your email will usually be your site name, followed by @safe.roughsex.org.
If you will always be accessing your messages from the same computer, then we would recommend that you use POP3, and retrieve all messages from the server when you connect, since email messages count towards your disk quota.
However, if you will access messages from more than one place, or you want to use the web email system, then you should use IMAP, since that will allow you to organise your messages into folders, which will be stored on the server. Remember that the messages stored will be counted towards your quota of space on the server.
You can access the email system via http://webmail.roughsex.org, which will redirect you to the login page for Horde, the web mail system that we use. Horde contains its own help, which can be accessed by clicking on the question mark icons at various points throughout the system.
The maximum size of an incoming email is around 2Mb, but we would appreciate it if you try to keep messages much smaller whenever possible.
You must not use the email system to send unsolicited emails or any sort of spam.
